About Adref Cafe
A New Chapter Told In A Familiar Place
Adref is a coming home story. A return to a building that has always meant something special, brought back to life with food, flavour and warmth at its heart. Adref is a collaboration between Sian Woodhead and renowned local chef Andrew Luck.
For Sian, it is the realisation of a long-held pull back to a place she once owned and loved. Having previously run the hugely successful Calon Café from this very building, selling the business in 2017 was never an easy goodbye. Watching the building sit empty and fall into disrepair stirred a deep sense of hiraeth, and the decision was made to bring it back to life, even at a time when many cafés were closing their doors.
From A Vision Into Reality
Adref was created to feel like a home from home, a place where customers can relax, enjoy beautiful food, and feel genuinely welcome. That vision was the perfect setting for Andrew to showcase his talents. Andrew has spent his entire career as a chef, training at Claridge’s in London, before going on to open the much-loved Café No.4 on Queen Street, which many in Carmarthen will remember fondly. Andrew’s food is known for its flavour, creativity and exceptional desserts. His style brings the quality of a high-end restaurant into a relaxed café environment, where enjoying dessert first is perfectly acceptable. Together with a passionate and talented team, Adref offers carefully cooked food, excellent coffee, and thoughtful service. The support from customers old and new since opening has been overwhelming, reinforcing that Adref is exactly where it belongs, back at the heart of Carmarthen.
